深水中的嬌客
這隻透明的海參學名是Enypniastes。「海洋生物普查（Census of Marine Life）」轄下負責「大陸邊緣生態系調查計畫（COMARGE）」的科學家是在墨西哥灣北方2,750公尺深的海裡發現牠的芳蹤。Enypniastes是人類在探究海洋生物多樣性時的眾多發現之一。

在墨西哥灣海下2750米處發現的海參，學名Enypniastes。


浮游海參 Deep-sea dancer (Enypniastes eximia)
可長達35公分。這種深海海參是一種會游泳的海參(sea cucumbers)；透過在水中緩慢起伏身體，有時可游至較為遠離海底的地方。牠扭動身上的「斗篷」(cape)，作出單足旋轉般的動作，看起來有意想不到的優雅。圖中所示牠體內的消化管(digestive tube)，是用來過濾所攝取的沉積物，把有營養價值的微粒保留下來。

In 2007 WHOI biologist Larry Madin led a team of scientists and photographers from the U.S. and the Philippines on an expedition to explore biodiversity in the deep Celebes Sea, supported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, the National Geographic Society, and the WHOI Ocean Life Institute. Celebes Sea
